How I Went from Burnout to Vitality - and Why I’m So Passionate About Pilates

Before I ever taught a Pilates class in Linlithgow or launched Vitality Pilates by Kirsty, you’d most likely have found me running the streets, lochs and canal paths of Linlithgow. In my twenties, running gave me a sense of clarity and freedom. It was my space to de-stress from a hectic job and feel like me again.

But life has a way of throwing curveballs.

Fast forward to six months after my 40th birthday and I was a shadow of that active young woman.

I was exhausted. My joints ached constantly, I could barely get down the stairs, and I was battling a chronic fatigue illness that hit after a series of tragic events and medical complications.

Running was totally out of the question.

But that’s where Pilates came in and slowly, it brought me back to life.

The Smallest Steps Made the Biggest Difference

My recovery didn’t start with hour-long workouts or intense stretching routines. It began with just a couple of minutes of simple Pilates movements each day.

It was through those gentle, mindful movements that I started to rebuild not just my strength and flexibility, but also my sense of self. Pilates helped flush the stress hormones out of my system and gave me the core strength - physically and mentally - to rise up again.

I went from barely functioning to feeling stronger, clearer and more confident than ever before. And that’s exactly why I now teach Pilates classes in Linlithgow for active adults who want to move better, feel better, and get more out of the sports and activities they love.
