12 Reasons I Do Pilates (And Why You Might Want To, Too)

Kirsty Carella | JUL 23, 2025

There are so many reasons I keep coming back to Pilates week after week and they go far beyond just touching my toes (although yes, flexibility is a lovely perk!). Whether you’re running around after kids, returning to sport after injury or just trying to feel better in your body, I can guarantee that Pilates has something to offer you.

Here are 12 reasons why I make Pilates a non-negotiable in my week and why joining one of my Pilates classes in Linlithgow could be just what you need too.

1. A Good Night’s Sleep

There’s nothing quite like the deep, restful sleep that follows a session of stretching, breathing, and mindful movement.

2. Waking Up Without Stiffness

Pilates helps release the tension that builds up from busy days, so I can wake up without that achy, creaky feeling.

3. Feeling Awake and Motivated

By connecting breath with movement, Pilates activates your body and brain and is great for setting a positive tone for the day.

4. Moving Without Pain

Whether it’s recovering from old injuries or preventing new ones, Pilates plays a big part in keeping me pain-free.

5. Standing Tall

It’s not just about looking taller (though I won’t complain!), but about good posture, spinal alignment and feeling confident in your own skin.

6. Confidence

When you feel strong and in control of your body, it naturally boosts your self-belief - in sport, in work, in life.

7. More Energy

It may seem counterintuitive, but 50 minutes of Pilates can actually give you energy - not drain it. Perfect for busy days or post-run recovery.

8. Strength for Real Life

Like lifting my daughter up for a cuddle without wincing. Pilates builds practical, functional strength for all life’s demands.

9. Easier Daily Chores

Whether it’s cleaning the house, lifting shopping bags, or stretching to reach that top shelf - Pilates helps it all feel easier.

10. Feeling Stable on Uneven Surfaces

Core strength and balance training means I can confidently run around with my daughter on bumpy grass or at the beach without fear of falling.

11. Piggybacks Without Pain

Because giving a piggyback shouldn’t mean pulling a muscle! Pilates strengthens the back and hips for those spontaneous moments of joy.

12. Saying “Yes”

This one is the biggest of all. I do Pilates so I can say “yes” to the things I love - hiking, running, playing, travelling - without worrying about pain or injury.

Whether your goal is injury prevention, recovery after injury or simply to feel stronger, more flexible and more energised, Pilates can help.

And the best part? Even after just one class, you’ll feel the benefits start to kick in.

If you’re ready to move better, feel better and say “yes” to more in your everyday life, come and join one of my Pilates classes in Linlithgow.

They’re designed for real people like you who want to stretch, strengthen and support their bodies through running, sports, parenting and everything else life throws your way.
